	California	Florida
Cost Of Living	Generally, 30-50% higher than the national average, depending on the metro. Groceries, utilities, and gas all run higher, particularly in the Bay Area and coastal San Diego.	Closer to the national average in most areas. Day-to-day expenses like groceries, gas, and utilities tend to be noticeably lower, especially outside the Orlando and Miami metros.
Taxes	State income tax ranges from 1% to 13.3%, one of the highest in the country. Most CA residents pay 9 – 13.3% on worldwide income to the state. Property taxes average around 1%, and your property tax bill can be much higher if your home is in a Mello-Roos district or has a CFD.
